The Top 5 Things You Need To Know About The Personal Microderm

Whether it’s hot girl summer or you’re wrapped up in a winter wonderland, fresh, glowing skin is always in - and that’s why you’re practicing skincare with your Personal Microderm.

Welcome to your crash course on all things Personal Microderm.

Here are the top 5 things you need to know!

1. Where do I start? Before you start using the device, turn it on, and practice a few glides on the inside of your arm. This will help you learn how to glide it, and get you accustomed to the exfoliation & suction! Getting started is easier than you’d think. The key with the Personal Microderm is always having clean, dry skin. Remove your makeup, wash with cleanser and water, fully dry, and it’s time to start. Always start with the white disc when it's your first treatment!

2. What can I expect?

After the first use your skin is literally going to be softer and smoother - you're going to love the texture change! It’s also completely normal for your skin to appear red during a treatment, and this can last for up to 15 minutes. You may think it’s from the exfoliation, but it’s actually blood being brought to the surface of your skin from the vacuum suction. This is healthy, and totally normal!

If you have very dry skin, you may even see dead skin left behind on your face and in the cap and filter of your device. Not only is this *extremely* satisfying, but it’s nice to see the immediate result of your treatment!

The long term results are more visible after 8 weeks - that's when you'll really notice the stark difference in your skin tone & texture, fine lines & wrinkles, and how firm & tone your skin feel. Be sure to take a before photo so that you can track the long term changes!

3. How do I know when it’s time for a new disc?

The general rule of thumb is change your disc every 3-4 uses! On average, that’s basically once a month depending on how much microderming you are doing every treatment! The appearance of your disc is going to change. It’ll look a bit more worn out but most importantly it will feel a lot smoother. Think of sanding down a piece of furniture, the sandpaper has grit to it and that’s how it sands off paint. But after a while, the sandpaper is so smooth that it won’t sand anymore. The same principle applies to the Personal Microderm discs!

4. Can I use it on more than just my face? YES! All of the Personal Microderms come with a face cap, body cap, face discs, and body discs! The best places to use on your body: hands & feet - hello at home mani pedi! If you’re anything like me you may have those little bumps on the back of your arms, so I use the Personal Microderm on the back of my arms EVERY week!

5. What tips & tricks should I know? Pull your skin taut, it makes it so easy to glide the Personal Microderm on your skin. Also, you don't have to apply any pressure with the Personal Microderm. The vacuum suction will gently pull your skin in toward the disc. Aka the Personal Microderm does all the work for you. My favorite tip - take a before photo! It's SO nice to be able to compare the changes every week or month. Be patient, big changes happen over a longer period of time!
