How does the Personal Microderm work?
How does the Personal Microderm work?
The Personal Microderm is a once a week microdermabrasion treatment from the comfort of your own home! A spinning disc embedded with aluminum oxide crystals exfoliates away the entire top layer of dead, dull skin, while a vacuum suction triggers the production of collagen and elastin. When you do this treatment weekly, you're increasing the cell turnover rate which tells your body to produce an entirely new layer of fresh skin, while you're removing the old, damaged layer. This means you can say goodbye to the appearance of enlarged pores, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture, and your skincare products can penetrate up to 20x deeper!

Which Personal Microderm disc color should I use?
Which Personal Microderm disc color should I use?
Everyone’s skin is different. Some sensitive skin types may never need to increase their exfoliation level by moving to a different disc color; others with more tolerant skin will need to change to a higher disc level to see more significant results. Ultimately, the disc color used depends on your treatment goals. If you want a more intense treatment, and if your skin has adjusted to the Personal Microderm, try a more intense disc. However, we recommend everyone begins their first treatment by using the white training disc. If your skin responds well, that is a good indication that you can move on to the grey disc the following week. Each week you can move to the next level based on your skin’s reaction and how intense you’d like your treatment to be. Always remember to gradually and carefully increase the intensity with the disc colors.

What is the difference between microdermabrasion and microneedling?
What is the difference between microdermabrasion and microneedling?
Great question! They’re very different treatments. The Personal Microderm is a dermatologist grade microdermabrasion treatment. It uses a spinning disc embedded with aluminum oxide crystals to exfoliate away the entire top layer of dead, dull skin, and triggers the cell turnover process which tells your body to produce a new, fresh layer of skin! The vacuum suction increases the production of both collagen and elastin, while increasing blood flow to the surface of the skin. When you do this treatment weekly, you’re consistently removing the old, damaged skin and replacing it with new. This minimizes the appearance of enlarged pores, dark spots, hyper pigmentation, evens out skin tone and texture, fades fine lines and wrinkles, and by removing that barrier of dead skin your skincare can penetrate up to 20x deeper and be more effective. Microneedling uses tiny needles to puncture the skin, which triggers collagen production and the healing process. But it isn’t going to give you that heavy exfoliation.
Can I use the PMD Personal Microderm if I have acne?
Can I use the PMD Personal Microderm if I have acne?
Yes! We do suggest avoiding microderming over active acne. But, one of the best benefits that you’ll see is that by removing that top layer of dead, dull skin- your skincare products (cleansers, serums, moisturizers, acne washes) can penetrate up to 20x deeper and be more effective. This means that your products can finally work the way they should because they’re actually getting deep into your skin and pores so that they can be effective! Not only will it do this, but the Personal Microderm will also fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation from previous blemishes!
