  • Power of Exfoliation

Patented Spinning Discs embedded with aluminum oxide crystals exfoliate away dead, dull cells from the surface of the skin. By removing this dead skin cell barrier, new cell growth is stimulated and glowing youthful skin is revealed.

  • Strength of Suction

Perfectly Calibrated Vacuum Suction is the power behind effective microdermabrasion. Suction increases circulation and triggers the skin’s natural healing process which boosts collagen and elastin leaving skin firm, fresh and radiant.

  • Beauty of Absorption

Personal Microderm removes the top layer of dead, dull skin cells. Once this barrier is removed, skin care products can penetrate 20X deeper maximizing the benefits of skin care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion uses suction and exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of dead skin (Stratum Corneum). Removing this top layer reveals fresh, younger looking skin in its place.

What is the PMD Personal Microderm?

The Personal Microderm is an at-home tool that brings you the same results as professional microdermabrasion treatments. The Personal Microderm’s exfoliation and vacuum suction reveal younger skin through: –Patented spinning disc technology embedded with aluminum oxide crystals, which gently removes the top layer of dull, dead skin, referred to as the Stratum Corneum. These dead skin cells act as a barrier on the skin, once they are removed, skincare products will fully absorb into the skin, resulting in maximum benefits. –Vacuum suction helps stimulate, activate, and rejuvenate the skin. This suction also triggers the body’s production of collagen and elastin and increases the skin’s cell renewal. Increased cell renewal is important because it generates new, healthy skin cells that are brighter, softer, and smoother. –The Personal Microderm removes the top layer of dead, dull skin cells. Once this barrier is removed, skin care products can penetrate 20X deeper maximizing the benefits of skin care.

Who should use the Personal Microderm?

People with all skin types can use the Personal Microderm. If you are receiving care from a Physician please consult with them before beginning use. The Personal Microderm is recommended for any individual looking for smoother, softer, and brighter skin. Treatments can be customized from ultra-sensitive to very intense.

When can I expect to see results?

We promise that after your first treatment you will have softer, smoother skin. The Personal Microderm uses science, not magic. After eight to twelve weeks of consistent use, individuals may see a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation.

How should I use the Personal Microderm in conjunction with my skin care regime?

Step 1: Cleanse the skin, and allow it to dry completely.

Step 2: Personal Microderm treatment. Remember to watch the instructional video and carefully follow all directions.

Step 3: Apply a toner.

Step 4: We recommend applying our Recovery mask to soothe and hydrate.

Step 5: Apply a moisturizer and SPF daily.

What is the difference between the Personal Microderm, a cleansing brush, and a scrub?

The Personal Microderm is a once a week microdermabrasion treatment that exfoliates and removes the top layer of dead skin. Cleansing brushes like the PMD Clean are used to cleanse the skin on a daily basis. Both are great and perform very different functions. If you like using a daily cleansing brush, then you will love Personal Microderm. A scrub may exfoliate but does not use vacuum suction. Some scrubs claim or include microdermabrasion in the name or marketing. However, true microdermabrasion uses vacuum suction. When using a scrub you also run the risk of spreading bacteria on the skin. The Personal Microderm uses discs embedded with Aluminum Oxide crystals which are antibacterial.

What is on top of the Discs? Is it safe?

Each patented disc is hand dipped in Aluminum Oxide crystals. Aluminum Oxide is the same material that is used for microdermabrasion in many doctor’s offices. It is completely safe, antibacterial, and non-toxic. Aluminum Oxide does not cause adverse skin reactions and is not carcinogenic. Aluminum Oxide crystals are ideal for microdermabrasion and are the most popular choice of professionals.

How do I know if it is safe and time to increase the intensity of the discs?

(I.e. move from the white disc to the grey discs, from the blue disc to the green discs, or from the green to the red?) Everyone’s skin is different. Some sensitive skin types may never need to increase their exfoliation level by moving to a different disc color; others with more coarse skin will need to change to a higher disc level to see more significant results. Ultimately, the disc color used depends on your treatment goals. If you want a more intense treatment, and if your skin has adjusted to the Personal Microderm, try a more intense disc. However, we recommend everyone begins their first treatment by using the white training disc. If your skin responds well, that is a good indication that you can move on to the grey disc the following week. Each week you can move to the next level based on your skin’s reaction and how intense you’d like your treatment to be. Always remember to gradually and carefully increase the intensity with the disc colors; if you are too intense with your exfoliation, you may create red marks or scabbing. This may happen if you do not follow the instructions (by stalling, pressing into the skin, passing over the same area more than once, or using the wrong disc).

How long will each disc last?

Each disc will last 3-4 uses. Most treatments will take three to five minutes. The size of the area being treated and the length of each treatment will ultimately determine how long a disc can be used.

How do I take care of my Personal Microderm?

Rinse the cap and filter between each use with warm water and soap. Be sure to replace the disc every 3-4 uses, and replace the filter every 3-4 months. Wipe down the body of the device as needed, and store your Personal Microderm in a dry place.

Can you get close to your eyes?

No. Do not treat the area where your skin starts to become thinner and more delicate. Typically users can follow the outside of the orbital bone as a guide.

Why won't my Personal Microderm device charge?

Like a blow dryer, the Personal Microderm Classic, Pro, Plus, and Man must be plugged in to operate. The power cord included with each device is not a charger, and the device will not turn on unless it is connected to power. This is to ensure a steady stream of energy to the device for performance.

Does the Personal Microderm remove hair?

No. The Personal Microderm tool is just designed to exfoliate your skin, the tool will not remove hair.

Do I apply pressure when using the Personal Microderm?

No pressure is necessary, instead, just lightly glide the tool over your skin and allow the vacuum to do the work. Watch our video here for more information.

What happens if you apply too much pressure?

When too much pressure is applied, the Personal Microderm may exfoliate beyond the dead skin layer. This may result in redness or light scabbing. The vacuum suction of Personal Microderm is calibrated perfectly to remove the dead, dull layer of skin. Do not apply pressure.

Can I use Personal Microderm more than once a week?

No. The Personal Microderm should only be used once a week. Microdermabrasion removes the top layer of dead, dull skin, and your body needs one week to rejuvenate. Be patient and use the device consistently to see results.

Do I need to do anything in between treatments?

Yes, continue with your daily skincare regime and SPF. For best results, we recommend using our Daily Cell Regeneration System (cleanser, toner, and moisturizer) both morning and night.

What if my Personal Microderm doesn’t have suction?

Here are some common trouble-shooting guides:

1. Double check to ensure the cap is tight. Screw cap on as tightly as possible creating a tight seal between the black rubber O-ring and the cap.

2. Make sure your filter is clean, and wash the filter after each use.

3. Check the black rubber O-ring. This black rubber ring is replaceable. You can remove it and rinse it with mild soap and water. This ring is vital in creating a tight seal with the cap, which ensures good vacuum suction.

4. Tighten the cap as TIGHT as possible. If the cap is not tight enough, the seal will be broken and there won’t be any suction

What If I don’t see dead skin coming off while using the Personal Microderm?

Not everyone will see dead skin residue, as shown on our demo videos, after using the Personal Microderm. This does not mean that the Personal Microderm is not working. The amount of residue you see following your treatment is based on your skin type and the climate you live in; more oily skin types and those living in humid climates may not see any dead skin residue. The Personal Microderm is still working.

What happens if I get red marks, minor bruising, scrapes, or scabs after using the Personal Microderm?

Some users have found that if the device is held too long in one spot or the skin is extra sensitive it has caused dermabrasion, a treatment performed by specialists where deeper layers of skin are removed. It is possible that you have areas of dermabrasion. To help these areas to heal and regenerate properly, we would suggest the following:

1. Cleanse the skin to avoid infection

2. Keep the area moist to promote healing

3. Avoid sun exposure and, after skin has healed, use sunscreen every day. New skin is more susceptible to sun damage.

4. Your skin should heal normally in 5 to 7 days. When your skin has healed and regenerated, and you are comfortable in doing another treatment, you should be able to continue on.

Who should not use the Personal Microderm?

Anyone using chemical peels or products containing acids including hydroxy acids, malic acid, lactic acid and or retinoids, should be cautious in their use of the Personal Microderm. Allow at least 48 hours between the use of these active ingredients, and a Personal Microderm treatment. Depending on skin type, these products may make the skin too sensitive for any Personal Microderm use. If you are concerned that your skin falls into this category, discontinue use of these products for at least seven days. Consult your doctor or dermatologist if you are unsure that the Personal Microderm is suitable for your skin.

What if I can’t get my disc off my device?

Pull the disc straight up to avoid changing the angle of the post it rests on. If you are unable to remove the disc with your hands alone, use a set of pliers and pull the disc straight up. No twisting or back and forth motion is necessary.
